We must avoid the tempting trap of one more lane and recognize that while the science shows we will not see faster travel times, the widening will certainly pollute the air we breathe, add to the climate change crisis, and make our streets less safe with rushing cut-through traffic.

Straight out of the playbook of the 1950s, Governor Murphy continues to push a $5 billion project to widen the urban highway known as the Turnpike Extension through Jersey City. On Saturday, Nov 12, we rally together with a broad alliance including neighborhood groups, environmental groups, local leaders, and sustainable transportation advocates to say NO to this toxic widening. This is an important moment for all of us to make our voices heard.
